Survey Analysis

1. The majority answer was 16-18 which steered us in the direction to make our target audience this age because a majority of the answers was in preference of this age group. Also the age showed us the different opinions according to age when it comes to thriller movies.
2. This showed us the difference in opinion for the different genders of thriller movies late on in the questions and having different genders made sure that the survey was fairly valid. We received a bigger feminine view compared to a male because most of our participants were female. However, we validated this and saw thsimilarities between male and female. Also it made our film baised to a female audience because we got a bigger opinion from them and will be able to shape our movie to fit their preferences.

4. We asked this question as a continuation of the previous one to deepen our understanding of what makes these thrillers exciting for them. The majority answer was the action of it all and the second highest result was that the film plays with your mind. This was interesting for us to find out as we now know how we can make our thriller more appealing to the target audience and how we can improve and expand.
5. This was effective in expanding our knowledge of what our target audience like and what we should do to make our film attractive to our audience. It made us certain of what we should include.
6. This question let us know what we shouldn't include in our thriller because our target audience dont like it therefore,it is likely they woulnt like the movie The majority answer of 'Other' let us know that it would be alright to include a good plot, tension/adrenaline/suspense, shocking/unexpected features, characters and villains without the audience feeling uncomfortable and instead enjoying the movie.
7. We asked this question to find out what gender most people prefer the leading character to be. The majority result of male put in our minds who we should cast as our leading character and what would be suitable for our type of movie. Despite our survey saying they would prefer a male lead we challenged this and casted a young female because we found it fitted our time table and the storyline.
8. This question was effective in letting us know how our audience like thrillers to begin meaning we could incorporate ideas into our film opening. The majority result was ‘Slowly building up to action’ This gave us ideas of how to start our movie as we want to impress our target audience and giving them something substantial is our aim.
Overall we thought that some of our results would be useful in the openings of our thrillers as it allows us to gain an insight into the minds of the target audience and a wide variety of audiences. Doing this survey has been useful and effective in letting us know what to add and what not to add in our film and has given us ideas for certain areas concerning the movie for example, the subgenre we pick.

Film Treatment
This is the film treatment for our thriller movie called phone calls.
In this psychological spy thriller, average girl Kristen Star wakes up in hospital after being in a coma for two weeks. In the beginning of an action packed stalker situation, Kristen receives a recording on her side table giving alleged details of an exploding hospital. The recording says “Listen very carefully. The hospital you are currently in is going to be bombed in a minute’s time once the recording has finished. Don’t ask questions. Don’t help others just run” Kristen manages to make it out in time. The hospital explodes. Kristen receives a call from an unknown number saying ‘you’ve passed the first test, go straight home before paramedics and police arrive and make sure you are not seen’.
Kristen follows her instructions despite her injuries from the explosion and her injuries for her being in hospital. On her way home the phone keeps ringing but she ignores all the calls. Kristen approaches a river and falls over in shock and pain. Kristen starts thinking it is all her fault and she didn’t do anything to help all the other innocent people. She realises she just witnessed a terrorist attack and did nothing to help. Her thoughts start to take control of her and she throws her phone in the river whilst in tears. A young man called Peter Crown comes up to her and asks if she is alright she tries to get away from him remembering the phone call saying ‘make sure you are not seen’ He insists on taking her home because he can see she is not well enough to be home. She eventually is persuaded to go with him.
When she arrives at his house he goes to the kitchen to make her some lunch and get her a drink. Kristen has been left alone and the phone starts ringing he yells from the kitchen to answer she slowly answers the phone. It’s the unknown man again saying ‘we told you not to be seen there will be consequences’ She yells down the phone to leave her alone he replies saying ‘turn on channel one news’ and hangs up. Peter runs in to check if she is alright she ignores him asking if she is okay and shouts at him to turn the news on. The news gets turned on as the news reporter reports that there has been another terrorist attack. Kristen is now distraught and runs out of the apartment. When she is out of the building she sees some police on duty and tells them everything they don’t take her seriously because they can see she is ill. She begs them to come up to Peter’s apartment so he would explain for her as well. They go along with her. They knock on the door and it opens by itself. Peter is dead on the floor. Kristen can’t believe what she is seeing and runs the police try to stop her but end up having to stay with Peter. She leaves the building and screams, she runs over to a telephone box, answers the phone as it says ‘break one more rule or don’t follow one more command or try to ring the police there will be more consequences’.
Throughout the movie she tries to run to ultimate lengths to stop the attacks from taking place. On the next attack Kristen manages to save one person and ends up making the young man called Luke stay with her because she doesn’t want what happened to Peter to happen to him. Kristen ends up finding herself on the run from the unknown stalkers and the police because of Peter’s death.
As the film goes on there are more attacks and phone calls which Kristen tries to prevent until she receives one very important phone call saying they want to meet her. Kristen agrees as long as Luke is guaranteed safety. They agree and meet. When Kristen goes to the agreed location she finds her husband and best friend standing there she runs to them asking if they are alright. Three vans full of people Kristen knows drive into the abandoned location. Kristen then finds out that the unknown callers were people she knows and loves. Everyone tells her that she was in an accident and in a coma for a week and she is a terrorist just like the others in front of her. It turns out Kristen lost her memory in the accident and can’t believe what has happened. They then reveal their master plan on killing the prime minister in the big, live conference today. Kristen manages to escape from them and can’t believe what has happened to her and what she was. She decides to try to prevent the plan from succeeding. The only way this is possible is Kristen going through many impossible tasks of sneaking into 10 Downing Street and warning the police, security and Prime Minister himself.
She starts regaining parts of her memory and skills which is how she succeeds on sneaking into 10 Downing Street and commits identity fraud. Once she is able to stop the plan from taking place she receives her final life changing call from the terrorists saying she has to pick between the life of the Prime Minister or the life of her new companion Luke and her 3 children and if she does stop the plan they will frame her for the murder of Peter and will tell the police everything about her.
What will Kristen do?
Feedback
This film sounds really interesting from this feedback. It goes into a lot of detail and I like the main plot and idea of the film. This treatment does give me an inclining into the movie; however, I am now intrigued to actually see it. (Zoe Panayioti, 17)

Film genres
This is my prezi on different film genres, the four different film genres I talked about were: horror, mystery, crime and comedy. When i was explaining each film genre I included things such as: what scenes they often include, what they are designed to do, what the plot usually centres and what the film usually focuses on. I also included examples of different films which fall under each genre.
Thriller opening analysis
This prezi is on an analysis 3 different openings on thriller movies. The first film i analysed is Vertigo, the second one is Psycho and the third movie is Final Destination.I had to copy pictures of different shots during the opening and talk about the music they used.
Thriller prezi
This is a prezi on research into thriller movies. From doing this prezi I learnt what thrillers do to capitvate the audience such as plot twists and cliff-hangers. I also learnt what the main aim for a thriller is which it to keep the audience on the edge of their seat, I found out what a thriller provides for the audience and what the object of a thriller genre is which is to tell a story with tension building up throughout. Lastly, I gave a list of different types of thrillers and said what common methods and themes are used in thriller movies. I learnt that there are a lot of different thriller genres, some which I had never heard of before. I also never knew before that fight and chase scenes are common methods to use in a thriller genre.

Preliminary Task
This is my preliminary task, I had to film this so that I could get an idea of what the camera is like. As it was my first time filming I was excited but also scared as I didn't want to brake the camera. When I watched the clip back for the first time the camerwork was very shaky and it took me a few more turns before the camerwork wasn't as shaky, i still think the video could be better as it is still shaky but it is better than what it was like first of all. In the task I had to film a video of someone opening a door, entering a room and sitting down in a chair opposite someone else and having a conversation. When I was filming I had to demonstrate: 180 degree rule, match on action and shot/reverse shot. Once I had done all the filming I had to edit the video using Adobe Premier Pro CS5, then I had to upload it onto youtube then embed it onto my blog.
Feedback
This preliminary tasks was very good. I liked it because it ran smoothly and I liked the way the shots moved from one face to another. (Sheliesa Stewart, 17)
